Description
This is done on my part, a portrait practise of my country's Senior Minister, Mr Lee Kwan Yew.The chinese word in the middle circle is pronouced as "Guang", its not onli his middle name but oso meant "light" in chinese... When Singapore gained indepedence in 1965, a poor and small country wif absolutely no natural resources many expect her to be short lived... but Mr Lee had the vision, a light in his mind, and almost single handedly, he defined odds, he guided Singapore towards this light..and within 40 yrs, singapore is now one of the the most IT connected, developed countries in the world...
An internet poll recently in our country voted him the Singapore idol among our pple~ a national hero~
Consider this my fanart to him~

But you have that to write that it is an art produced in the computer, and with that programs! Photoshop, Painter...
It does not speak very of the personality, speaks of the used Technique!

personally i feel the chinese characters and the coloured 'circle' design elements dun fit into the drawing that well. how should i say... i aint that comfortable with the colour. i know its quite there but the'vector style' of fonts and 'painting style' of the drawing doesnt go for me. that composition wasnt that good. i feel too much space on the top and not much attention on the subject itself. a centralised composition of your drawing itself would have been alot more professional.
critques on drawing itself. ear too big and weird.. the higher and darker eyebrow on his right eye bothers me alot.. forehead still abit too much compred in proportion to the other features of face. the line going down the right side of mouth is still too harsh. don't use too much pure white although its easy way to induce light it gets abit overexposed in some parts. the shading on the face is too 'onetone' and could have changed more gradualy insteady of so suddenly towards the lighter sides. the body is ...okay. i like the eyes and the hair although it can still be improved.
and of cos, i can feel the resemblence of mr lee straight from this drawing. but then again, it could be that this typical directional look and lighting of mr lee is offen seen in bookcovers or newspaper(or atleast to me). so that part of it on choosing a good drawing, you could have improved by doing more research and creative thinking.
as you can see your work can still be improved alot and alot more. i would say that maybe you're too easily statisifed. you'll be much better off being a perfectionist. take some pride in your own work, and of cos, to your subject. i dont wanna be impressed by how much little time you spent (unless its just painting practice) but really how beautiful the final work really is. so five hours...
and you said you did with a mouse - mayb its time you should get a tablet dont you think? although an artist paints with his brain not his hands, its quite important to paint effectively.
gogo bryan, looking forward to see much better works coming out from you!~
